Steph & Ollie – Back Garden DIY Wedding – June 2019

“What’s your favourite wedding venue?” .. is a question I get asked a lot! And truth be told… I don’t officially have one. My favourite weddings have always been ones with lots of personal touches, inclusive of its setting. Which is exactly how Steph & Ollie did theirs, and decided to have their celebration at their family home in Kent; it was the most perfect setting for them and summed up their personalities in a nutshell. Think DIY vibes, marquees, grass fields and apple orchards… Ahhh!
Steph & Ollie legally married in Devon the week before, for an intimate ceremony with their closest family and friends (see previous blog post for more on their Devon adventure!), but the following week put their whole circle of friends and family right at the heart of their celebration.
They had a beautiful outdoor blessing ceremony, performed by the fabulous humanist celebrant Holly Austin-Davis. It was the perfect ceremony for Steph and Ollie, as they had written personal vows to each other and shared stories with their guests about their journey together so far. It was lovely to see a ceremony that celebrated them as a couple and focused on all the happy and positive things within their every day lives.
The rest of the day followed on with a similar vibe, as guests enjoyed the open bar and buffet selection provided by H & J Goudhurst Catering… no table plan meant no restrictions so Steph & Ollie’s guests could take their pick of the long wooden tables and mingle throughout the evening.
After dinner, Steph and Ollie decided to take a stroll through the garden with their gorgeous Red Labrador ‘Bunsen’, which made for some gorgeous pictures in the apple orchard and grass fields! We were lucky to have just made it ahead of the rain, which then continued for the rest of the evening, but everyone was too busy dancing to ‘The Devil’s Cut Combo’ in the party tent and enjoying the evening burger van to take any notice of a bit of drizzle!
Thankyou to Steph & Ollie again, for not just have me along to capture one, but both their wedding celebrations! I had the best time capturing it all, can we just do it all over again please?!
